General Finishes EnduroVar Urethane Varnish

General Finishes EnduroVar Urethane varnish is an exceptional coating designed for high-end applications.  While expensive, it is easily one of the most versatile and easiest to use waterborne finishes available.

It sprays and levels extremely well and can be brush applied with fantastic results.  It can even be padded on successfully with blue shop towels or our specialty wiping cloths.

Exceptional durability and chemical resistance with a warm amber color that will enhance the tone of most premium cabinet woods such as cherry, mahogany and walnut.  It will develop an amber look on lighter woods such as maple similar to an oil/solvent based varnish for a truly traditional effect.

This is the ultimate waterborne finish that is suitable for hobbiests and professionals.

Brush finish Saitn

Review by Doug on 2/12/2016

I am in the process of building kitchen cupboards and am very pleased with the Enduro Varnish on my maple and cherry cabinets. I was looking for a product that I did not have to spray and still get an excellent professional looking finish. I sealed both products with 1lb cut shellac from Wood Essence to pop the color a bit and to minimize grain raise from the WB product. Sand maple to 220, one coat shellac, sand 220 flat sheet on felt pad block, coat one, sand soft pad 320, coat 2 and done. As General advises keep the product warm as in t-shirt warm and work a wet surface. I apply with a 5ml roller and a simple one stroke brush off with a Gramecy brush. The finish product does not have a single brush stroke. The dry time is excellent and the finish coat is very durable. I chose natural for the cherry and it looks excellent. The Gramercy brush is a little pricy but well worth it.

Top of the line

I have used this product on kitchen cabinets and hardwood floors. Generally I spray it on undiluted using a Fuji HVLP (Pressurized Gxpc) with a 1.0mm tip. The first coat should be applied thin, but even then more often than not, the result is an orange peel like finish. However subsequent coats eliminate that problem resulting in an amazing “off-the-gun” finish. I have found that scuff sanding between coats is a necessity for best results. On floors, I have used a sponge brush to do small repairs which blend seamlessly into the original work. A huge advantage of this product over say nitrocellulose lacquer, is that it is very low odor and easy to clean up. You can spray multiple coats on the same day. This product is also securely packaged and promptly shipped.
